Mermaid Kid's Bedroom

Image
Rudy really liked mermaids so I decided to do a mermaid themed bedroom for her. I found this great idea to do scales on the wall from Pinterest. So I used that idea and then went from there. The scales were traced from a paper plate that was cut in half. Light purple wall with scales The room was painted 3 different colors...light purple, dark purple, and light blue. The light blue wall had waves painted along the bottom. The light purple wall had scales painted at the top. And the dark purple wall was left plain. Dark Purple Accent Wall Next I wanted to make a table for her to play at. I found an old train table on Offer Up and used that to make my table. I bought teal felt at Joann Fabrics and cut and glued the felt on the table. Rudy ended up using the table for trains and for her V-Tech Barn. I ended up using it as a place for a television as well. Table after I cleaned it up but before I added the felt. You can see the waves on the blue wall. I bo...

Pinterest Inspired Playroom

Image
I had a very very small room in my house and was in need of a playroom so I decided that was the space to try and create one. The first thing I did was check out my collection of paint and I found that I already had left over pink paint. After painting I decided to add gold hooks to hang Rudy's purses as well as a Gold Mirror so she could play dress up. Next I bought gold circle decals to put on the light pink shelves. I placed a zebra rug that I already had in there. I also put her pink playhouse in the room even though it barely fit.

Zoo Theme 1st Birthday Party

Image
Unfortunately I didn't take too many pictures of this party but I'll share the few that I have. Here are pictures of Rudy's cake which I had someone make for her. Below are pictures of Rudy's smash cake. All highchair decorations were purchased at Party City. For her zoo themed party we went to the Cleveland Zoo. It was an extremely hot day which is why I bought a small fan on Amazon and attached it to her wagon.

Dr. Seuss Nursery

Image
I wanted a nursery that was gender neutral and thought Dr. Seuss would be a good idea. There isn't much instruction on how to do this other than to copy the paintings. I'm lucky to have a talented mom who could paint this for me.

Pinterest Inspired Horseshoe Pits

Image
These horseshoe pits were really easy. Wood was purchased at Home Depot and then the frames were assembled. Next the frames were placed in the yard so that the stakes were 40 feet apart. The stakes were placed in the ground with a little bit of concrete. Next I bought 16 flat square stones at Home Depot as the Pitching Platform. I also stained my wood frames. Next I used limestone gravel to fill my pits. I looked into using clay but finally decided on limestone gravel and figured this would be easiest. Last I added a metal pipe purchased at a local hardware store so that I had a place to store my horseshoes. I also bought drink holders at Walmart and attached these to the backboard.

My Pinterest Bonfire Pit

Image
I looked around on Pinterest for a while before finally realizing that nothing quite worked out for what I was looking for. So I used a few pictures as inspiration. First I found a spot in my yard and started digging out all of the grass to make a surface as flat as I could. Once the grass was all removed I bought a fire ring and some stones at Home Depot and arranged my fire pit. Next I got pieces of broken up concrete which I found for free on Facebook Marketplace and then also got some flat stones that I purchased at Home Depot. Would have been easier if I had just had enough broken concrete to do the entire thing but I just used what I could. Before placing down the stones though I first covered the dirt area with limestone gravel as flat as possible. Then i arranged my stones and broken concrete and placed more limestone gravel in between the stones. Finished Product We are excited to enjoy many fires out here

Luau Themed Birthday Party

Image
For Rudys birthday party I decided to try a luau themed party. So I figured I would look to Pinterest for inspiration. Several ideas caught my attention such as having a bonfire, Hawaiian kabobs to eat, a Moana "drive in" movie night, and grass skirts for the girls to wear. The beginning stage of the box cars. I used boxes from Amazon shipments and just cut and duck taped them into the shape of cars. Here is one of the cars close up before I painted and decorated them. I bought spray paint from Walmart and each car took at least two coats. the blue color I chose took three coats and didn't cover as well as the pink. The only problem I encountered was the duck tape started to come off so I went back to Walmart and bought colorful tape and used it to support the box cars as well as decoration. After one coat of paint on some of the cars. Here is a package of Hawaiian looking flowers that I bought at a Michaels Craft Store. I used these to stick...
